The Postal History Society Celebrates it’s 90th Anniversary
The grateful thanks of the Postal History Society are due to the President and Council of the Royal Philatelic Society London for the privilege of this group display by members to mark the 90th anniversary of the Society’s formation, making it the world’s oldest society specialising in this aspect of philately.
Since its inception, the ethos of the Postal History Society has remained as the promotion and encouragement of original study and research into the history of postal communication, whether local, national or international. The Society’s quarterly journal, Postal History, provides a forum in which members can ensure that their knowledge is disseminated to a wider public, and nowadays this is supplemented by Zoom meetings, allowing participation wherever in the world the collector lives. The Postal History Society also pursues an active outreach policy, seeking to link with collectors, researchers and academics on a worldwide basis, including on the Society’s Facebook page.
The breadth of members’ interests will be illustrated in the displays at this meeting by 33 contributors, with subjects as varied as the Civil War of the Three Kingdoms 1639 to 1653, Maritime Mail between Peru and France 1865 to 1879, the London & Dover Sorting Carriage and Swedish Postal History in the 17th century.

Tacna (7.6.1870), Arica (8.6.1870), Callao (11.6.1870), Colon (21.6.1870), Plymouth (11.7.1870), London (12.7.1870), Calais (13.7.1870), Libourne (13.7.1870), Castillon-sur-Dordogne (14.7.1870).
